What is the relationship between distillation pressure, altitude, and yield?
The design height mainly depends on the processing load of your crude oil; it is calculated based on the properties of the crude oil, the outlet temperature of the heating furnace, and the relative volatility. It is a very complex calculation process that involves the determination of the number of theoretical plates, and generally, the tower designed is taller than what is calculated. The yield is generally based on the design specifications; under normal circumstances it is higher than the designed value. However, it is possible that the efficiency of the internal components decreases and falls below the designed level, in which case tower cleaning or shutdown for maintenance is required.
