In central air conditioning systems, during the cooling cycle, the refrigerant is cooled using water cooling. Indirect cooling is employed to cool the rooms (the areas that require cooling). In other words, the refrigerant first cools the chilled water, and this cooled water then flows through pipes to the air handling units in the rooms (the areas that need cooling), where it exchanges heat with those areas to achieve cooling.
Central air conditioning uses air-cooling, right? It has a finned condenser; as for whether the evaporator is of the shell-and-tube type or a plate heat exchanger, that’s hard to say
