By the time I started keeping records, Huizhou Prefecture had already been replaced by Huizhou District, and Huangshan City had taken its place ； Speaking of why efforts were made in the past to promote “Huangshan City,” looking back at that time, there are indeed many amusing aspects. There are two main reasons for this: firstly, it was largely due to \"inability to manage effectively\" – it was difficult to arrange personnel, to ensure the supply of materials, and to manage supply and marketing cooperatives, among other things ； Secondly: Local leaders realized that the mountain for which it is said \"once you’ve seen the Five Great Mountains, no other mountains are worth seeing\" sees only a few dozen people visiting it each year. Of course, that was in the old days, in the early 1980s; things are different now. During the Golden Week, hundreds of thousands of people visit Huangshan Mountain. Still, it’s unclear whether those who pushed for this initiative achieved their goal back then. After all, in that era, how many people could afford to go on trips after having enough food to eat? Is there a ticket fee to visit Huangshan Mountain at that time? Back then, to travel to Huangshan, one had to take a train, then a bus, followed by a horse-drawn carriage, walk 15 li, and then climb the mountain. There is Huangshan City (for external purposes, it’s in Tunxi), there is Huangshan District (for administrative purposes; it’s not in Tunxi), and then there’s the Huangshan Scenic Area (which is quite far away). Haha, it sounds simple enough: “I’m going to the Huangshan Scenic Area.” But haha, it’s funny to think about how the local authorities consider what visitors think about this matter. What is Huizhou? Damn, where is Huizhou? I don’t know; if that’s the case, it means you’re ignorant of history ； Have you been to school? There, you find \"Huizhou cuisine\", one of the eight major Chinese cuisines; moreover, Huaiyang cuisine also has elements of Huizhou cuisine. When people from Huizhou move to Yangzhou, Huaiyang cuisine emerges there as well. Are you an architect? Architects will tell you that there are brick carvings there, as well as Huizhou-style buildings with blue bricks and black tiles; the houses in southern Anhui serve as examples of such architecture ； There are the four essential writing tools, there are the residences of top scholars in the imperial examinations, there are archways, and more... What is Huizhou? It is Huizhou Prefecture, with a history of over 1,000 years – it represents history, culture, and human heritage; it is also a path to finding one’s hometown... I haven’t been to Huangshan yet, but I definitely will go there someday. Why? Because I am from Anhui! What I’m looking for there isn’t necessarily strange pines, peculiar rocks, sea of clouds, or hot springs ； What interests me more are the great figures there, its splendid culture, and its ever-vibrant people... Perhaps just by looking at the names, it seems that the beauty of Huangshan lies in Huizhou, as if Huizhou benefits from Huangshan’s fame. But what I really want to say is that Huizhou is the one with the most genuine charm Where does Anhui come from? Without Huizhou, there would be no Anhui; this is the role of Huizhou in relation to Anhui. I believe Huizhou’s significance to China is no less than that of Xiangyang (please forgive me, folks from Hubei, or conduct thorough research on this). As a famous historical and cultural city in China, Huizhou must not disappear from existence. There are many outstanding people from Huizhou living abroad; it is important to preserve their legacy as well as the means by which they can return to their hometowns. In silence, as one goes out to study or work, one always feels that sense of cultural belonging – it is what brings the most nostalgia and serves as a source of encouragement. The older one gets, the more one realizes that changing one’s name back then was like gaining something small while losing something much more valuable. Deep in my heart, I look forward to the return of the ancient Huizhou region, so that Anhui can be complete again, and so that the symbol \"Huizhou\" that represents Anhui can once again have its origin. I’d like to add one more thing: I’ve tried in the past to figure out why “Wan” is used to refer to Anhui, but so far I’ve felt utterly helpless. Terms like “Ancient Wan State” and “Wan Mountains” don’t even appear automatically in Sogou input method. If you still want to preserve the connotation associated with “Wan”, please change “South Heaven’s Pillar” back again ； Otherwise, let it go to the character “Hui” associated with Huizhou culture, or to the character “Huai” from the Jianghuai region.
