To provide some context: there’s a sealed device that operates via intermittent filtration; the filter cake is the product, and what’s being filtered is a suspension. The problem is as follows: During the filtration process, it was found that the desired product filtered out into the filtrate. Since the equipment is sealed and feed is supplied intermittently along with the removal of the filter cake at intervals, it is not possible to observe the actual situation inside. May I ask: What factors are primarily related to the formation of filter cakes? There are also descriptions and calculations for chemical raw materials, but they seem not very applicable; it should belong to the category of compressible filter cakes, with constant-pressure filtration. Does material leakage mainly occur at the beginning of filtration? When a complete filter cake has not yet been formed, leakage occurs. Increasing the concentration of the initial suspension might help
At the beginning of filtration, the permeability of the filter cloth was too high, resulting in no filter cake; it is recommended to carry out pre-filtration for a while to remove the coarse particles. Once the samples taken at the outlet meet the required standards, then the system can be switched to normal operation. Leaks that occur later on are likely due to defects in the filter cloth
