In the PSA for hydrogen production from methanol, the adsorbents, from bottom to top, are alumina (in some companies, inert alumina is used at the very bottom with active alumina placed on top), activated carbon, and molecular sieves~~

In the pressure swing adsorption process, molecular sieves cannot desorb moisture; therefore, molecular sieve dehydration is usually achieved through heating for regeneration, which is part of the temperature swing adsorption process.
Activated alumina is mainly used for dehydration, activated carbon is primarily used to remove carbon dioxide, and molecular sieves are mainly used to remove carbon monoxide. The capacity of the three adsorbents increases gradually.
