Regarding safety instrumented systems, do you think this should fall under the responsibility of the instrumentation field or the safety field? Many colleagues in the safety field have not received training in this area; they have not studied systematically the issues related to instrument control, which makes it somewhat difficult to delve deeper into these topics. If I want to study this area, are there any good books recommended? Thank you! !
It belongs to the instrumentation field, as \"safety\" is used here as a metaphorical term
The safety in a safety instrumented system refers to ensuring the safe operation of production facilities through control systems; it is not the same as the concept of \"safety\" as understood by security departments. Therefore, it should fall under the management of the instrumentation field.
In addition to expertise in instrumentation, you also need to enhance your knowledge of functional safety in order to manage the lifecycle of safety instrumented systems in a systematic manner. If you have any specific questions, feel free to contact me anytime :)
Are there any book recommendations on functional safety?
Those that fall under instruments are handled in that way, while those that are part of safety supervision fall under that category
IEC 61508 and IEC61511 (GB/T 21109 and 20438) are the main standards for the life cycle management of safety instrumented systems. Are you looking for knowledge related to operation and maintenance, or rather design aspects? There are some books on this topic in China, but none that currently have a well-developed system and are truly worth recommending. Textbooks from professional institutions are generally of good quality, but they are not made public. Specifically, I suggest you first clarify your own requirements, and then I can give you suggestions.
Take a look at GB/T50770-2013 Design Code for Safety Instrumented Systems in Petrochemical Industries and you’ll understand everything
