Hello everyone, I would like to seek your advice regarding the cavitation problem in 98% sulfuric acid transfer pumps. The sulfuric acid pump in our company is a Dandong Klon centrifugal pump, with a flow rate of 17 m3/h and a head of 66 M. The pump inlet and outlet are pipes with a DN80 diameter. Every time the pump is started, it needs to be primed and vented multiple times, but sometimes it still fails to start. Is this a problem with pump selection, or is the method of starting the pump incorrect? Thank you all
Is there a problem with the pump’s configuration?
How to determine if it is caused by cavitation? Did you consult the pump manufacturers? What was their response?
What pump? I was using a regular centrifugal pump, and it had no problems at all
It might be a problem with the design selection!
There is always air in the exhaust gas every time the pump is filled.
What is the installation height? The pump inlet is much higher than the liquid level, and the bottom valve is of poor quality; it’s indeed difficult to open. It should have nothing to do with cavitation.
It’s the same with our company. I’m also thinking about this; I’ve noticed that there are problems with the cross-line connections in our company – their height design is too high. There’s also the issue of whether the filling pump line is blocked, as well as the impact on the inlet and outlet of the backup pump
