Regarding the pressure drop in the inlet pipeline of the safety valve

Dear sea friends: The pressure drop in the inlet pipeline of the safety valve should not exceed a set value of 3%. Typically, the data sheet provided by the safety valve supplier includes the required discharge volume and the rated discharge volume; the rated value is much higher than the required value. Which value should be used to calculate the pressure drop? I checked the description in API520 regarding this aspect; it is recommended to calculate the pressure drop using the allowable value. However, for systems with modulating characteristics – which are typically found in pilot valves – the required value can be used to calculate the pressure drop. If calculated based on the fixed amount, the inlet pipeline may need to be enlarged; generally, this is already in the later stages of the design process, and there are many potential impacts. Question: Which metric do everyone use for calculation?
I don’t understand either; why isn’t anyone answering?
It is accurate to calculate based on the specified volume; in cases where the volume is much larger, the valves are usually smaller, and the pipes are generally not very large as well. Even later in the project, safety considerations suggest expanding them.
