According to the design requirements of the separator, all water droplets larger than 500μm in the final oil are removed. What I would like to know is: how can this separation efficiency be expressed as a percentage or in ppm? In other words, what are the specifications for the oil I export? For example, the water content in the exported oil should be no more than 1% or no more than 500 ppm. In other words, how is the water removed in the form of droplets larger than 500μm converted into specifications related to separation at the export stage? Does anyone know? It’s so hard to decide.

Yes, you’re right; it’s impossible to calculate it. What I mean is whether there are any empirical indicators available. Otherwise, how can the size of the separator determined through calculation be used to set the product specifications?
To get an accurate figure for this, experiments are necessary. If you don’t have the conditions for experimentation, you can calculate it using phase equilibrium. Or use simulation software such as Aspen to simulate it based on the decanter module.
