Substantial progress has been made in the development of the process software package for the production of low-carbon mixed alcohols from syngas at a capacity of 100,000 tons per year by Shenhua Coal-to-Oil Engineering Company. Source: Coal-to-Oil Chemical Engineering Company. Publication date: 2016-08-09. Recently, the PFD (Process Flow Diagram) for this process software package was reviewed in Hefei, as commissioned by Shenhua Coal-to-Oil Engineering Company to the project team of Donghua Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as the Donghua project team). The approval of the PFD diagram, which is a key milestone in the preparation of the process package, indicates substantial progress in the development of this process package. Since the kick-off meeting for the \"Project to Develop Software Packages for the Production of Low-Carbon Mixed Alcohols from 10,000-tonnes of Synthesis Gas\" was held on April 28, the Coal-to-Oil Engineering Company has organized six meetings with companies such as Donghua Technology, Shanxi Coal Chemistry Institute, and Baotou Branch to conduct in-depth discussions and finalize various process parameters, including the design foundations, basic process data, reactors and synthesis circuits, as well as the overall process flow. On this basis, the Donghua project team completed the initial version of the PFD and the reactor engineering drawings for the process package as planned on July 12. On July 19, the company organized the Baotou branch and the Shanxi Coal Chemistry Institute to conduct an internal review of these PFD drawings, resulting in as many as 97 suggestions for modifications. On July 28, the Donghua project team responded to the above comments. From August 4 to 5, the company and the Donghua project team conducted final technical discussions and reviews on the PFD diagrams, resulting in the final review opinions. The approval of the PFD diagram for this process package marks the final determination of the material balance, energy balance, and momentum balance for the 100,000 tons/year syngas-based low-carbon mixed alcohol project, as well as its key technical solutions. This provides a solid foundation for the preparation of subsequent documents such as the PID diagram (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram), process equipment data sheets, and instrument data sheets.
