Dear experts, please help. I work in the field of electric actuators. The torque generated by our devices is 250 NM. If we use these devices to lift heavy objects, I want to know what kinds of objects can be lifted In short, I just want to know the relationship between horsepower and torque!
I really don’t know; could some expert give me some guidance so I can learn from it?
Newton-meter – this is the product of newtons (the unit of force) and meters (the length of the lever arm). Torque is expressed in Newton-meters (N.m.). Similar to power, the maximum torque output by an engine is usually specified along with its rotational speed in revolutions per minute (r/min). The maximum torque generally occurs at medium to low engine speeds; as the speed increases, the torque decreases instead. Kilonewton is a unit of force. The conversion method is as follows: the acceleration due to gravity on the Earth’s surface is 9.8 m/s^2, so 1000/9.8 = 102. Therefore, on the Earth’s surface, 1 kilonewton is equivalent to the gravitational force exerted by an object weighing 102 kilograms. Once these concepts are understood, it becomes clear that one refers to the work done by a person or machine to change the position of an object, while the other refers to force. One is a unit of torque, and the other is a unit of force; they are not comparable to each other.
One can imagine the principle of levers: torque is composed of two factors, force and distance, which are related by a multiplicative relationship.
