Could some expert please explain the advantages and disadvantages of Freon and liquid ammonia?

Liquid ammonia is a refrigerant widely used in industry. Its advantages are: low boiling point, moderate pressure, high cooling capacity per unit volume, low throttling losses, ability to dissolve water, easy detection of leaks, and low cost. Disadvantages of liquid ammonia: it is toxic and has a pungent odor; it is corrosive to copper and its alloys (except phosphor bronze) when in contact with water, can explode when mixed with air, and is prone to volatilization and decomposition at high temperatures. Freon is a halogenated derivative of saturated hydrocarbons; their general molecular formula is CmHnFxIyBrz, with the relationship 2m + 2 = n + x + o + y + z. Most Freon refrigerants are non-toxic and odorless. It does not burn at refrigeration system temperatures, poses no explosion risk, and has good thermal stability. Freon has a high molecular weight, which gives it good wettability for metals. Its disadvantages are: low cooling capacity per unit volume, high throttling losses, high specific gravity, and low thermal conductivity. It decomposes into toxic gases when exposed to flame, and it is expensive. Recent scientific research has revealed that CFCs have a severe destructive effect on the atmospheric ozone layer, and they are a major cause of the greenhouse effect!
