Urea warehouses are generally built on a large scale. According to Note 4 in Table 3.3.2 of the \"Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings\" GB50016-2014, when the fire resistance rating is grade II, the size of fire compartments can be 1.0 times larger than the values specified in the table. However, urea is classified as a Class C material in terms of fire hazard; per Article 8.3.2.7 of the same code, automatic sprinkler systems must be installed in any single-story or multi-story warehouse storing Class C materials whose floor area exceeds 1,500 m2 or total building area exceeds 3,000 m2. I would like to ask everyone: when designing a urea warehouse with a floor area of more than 1500 m2, is an automatic sprinkler system installed?

The new regulations have improved safety standards, and that’s true. For storage facilities for urea, whether in bulk or in bags, self-priming systems are not suitable; nor are fire suppression systems, as leaks can cause serious problems. In recent years, new projects have been constructed in accordance with the standards regarding the use of fire-resistant coatings on steel structures.
I’m not sure what fire classification is assigned to urea warehouses during design. As far as I know, the fire hazard category for urea warehouses is classified as Category C. According to Article 8.3.2.7 of the Building Code, single-story or multi-story warehouses storing Category C items with a floor area of more than 1,500 m2 or a total building area of more than 3,000 m2 must be equipped with an automatic fire extinguishing system, preferably a sprinkler system.
Installing automatic sprinklers in urea warehouses meets the fire safety requirements, but it would cause environmental problems, so it’s not very practical.
