Benzaldehyde is rapidly oxidized to white benzoic acid under light; this reaction does not involve any change in color. So what causes benzaldehyde to turn yellow?
The same substance can exhibit different colors in various forms, especially on the surface of the material. Some solid powders tend to turn yellow on their surface; this is likely not an issue related to the substance’s inherent properties, but rather an optical phenomenon caused by the surface texture. Just like diamonds, they are dark and dull when unearthed, but they become shiny after being processed
Benzaldehyde is colorless and transparent when sampled; the longer it is left, the darker its color becomes (yellow)

Color is a characteristic resulting from the absorption of light by certain substances; it certainly contains other reducing or unstable impurities that cause color formation upon exposure to light
Photodecomposition or photo-oxidation, and things of that kind – there must be a chemical reaction taking place! A colored substance has been formed; I hope someone downstairs can give an accurate answer!
