Some issues regarding pipeline flushing, purging, and water testing

When the refinery’s storage and transportation system is put into operation, the liquid pipelines are washed with water, tested individually, and tested in a water-based operating mode. I would like to ask whether it is necessary to purge the pipelines after the water washing process If used, does it need to be purged again after water transfer (that is, purged twice)? Is the purging after flushing simply meant to blow away any remaining water, rather than for cleaning purposes? Is it sufficient to perform purging once after the water system is put into operation?
After flushing, there is no need for purging. A filter is installed at the pump inlet; after water is introduced, the system is purged to remove all water from it. Finally, once nitrogen purging is completed successfully, the system can be put into use.
Install a filter or screen before the pump; then conduct a water flushing test. After the test, purge it with nitrogen, and finally remove and clean it up – that’s all.
After water interconnection, it must be purged thoroughly and sealed with nitrogen promptly; otherwise corrosion will occur rapidly
