I would like to ask everyone: The acidic water coming out of the top of the catalytic fractionation tower is normal in terms of pH after cooling, but it is milky white in color. What could be the reason for the fluctuations in iron ion levels?
Please check whether a corrosion inhibitor has been added to the top of the fractionation tower. If not, I believe it is because the dehydration and oil-water separation in the liquid separation tank are not thorough, resulting in an emulsified oil-water mixture that appears milky white. As for the fluctuations in iron ion levels, it is necessary to verify the frequency of sampling and analysis as well as the accuracy of the samples. If there are no issues, then it is important to determine the maximum level of iron ions. Depending on the situation with regard to iron ions, attention should be paid to corrosion in the tower top, the heat exchanger at the tower top, and the recirculation lines.
Will there be different effects depending on the location where the neutralizing and corrosion-inhibiting agents are added in the distillation tower? Typically, the filling point is chosen on the vapor line at the top of the distillation tower (before it enters the air cooler). What would be the difference if filling is done at the outlet of the circulation pump at the top of the distillation tower? Will it reduce corrosion in the tower top and the top circulation system?
The usual sources of iron ions are iron present in the raw materials and iron resulting from corrosion; any other iron that gets introduced comes either from instability within the raw materials or from external sources.
