I. Proper use of safety helmets 1. Inspect the safety helmet. Wear a proper safety helmet. Do not wear the safety helmet incorrectly; do not put the brim at the back of your head. Female employees must tie their long hair inside a cap. 4. Fasten the chin strap. The mandibular strap should fit tightly against the jaw, with a tightness such that there is a sense of restraint but no discomfort. This prevents the safety helmet from being blown away by strong winds, knocked off by other objects, or falling off as the head moves. II. Proper use of air respirators 1. Inspect the air respirator. Check that all components of the air respirator are present and intact, and that the connections between joints, tubes, and valves are in good condition ; Check the airtightness of the air respirator’s supply system and the pressure level of the air source ; Close the bypass valve and the air supply valve of the air supply unit, then open the bottle valve switch. Put the full-face mask on properly over the head and take a deep breath; the valve of the air supply unit should open automatically to supply air ; Check whether the gas cylinder is securely fixed. 2. Place the air respirator with a quick-connect fitting on the back, with the valve facing downward ; An air respirator with a quick-connect lower strap: after separating the full-face mask from the air supply valve, the cylinder valve is carried downward on the back of the body ; Adjust the length of the adjustment strap according to your height, and adjust the length of the belt according to your waist circumference, then fasten the belt. Adjust the pressure gauge to a position where it is easy for the wearer to view. 3. Insert the quick connector properly, and ensure that the air supply valve and the full-face mask are also connected properly ; For air respirators without quick connectors, the neck strap of the full-face mask should be worn around the neck. 4. Turn the bottle valve switch more than one full turn; at this point, a loud alarm sound should be heard, indicating that the bottle has been filled with compressed air after the valve is opened ; The pointer of the pressure gauge should also indicate the corresponding pressure. 5. Put on the full-face mask, take a deep breath. After air is supplied through the supply valve, check the pressure gauge; if there is a drop in pressure, it means that the opening degree of the valve on the cylinder is not sufficient – it should be opened further until the pressure gauge no longer shows a drop. III. Proper Use of Eye and Face Protection Equipment Once appropriate eye and face protection equipment has been selected, it must be used correctly in order to achieve effective protection. Before use, consult the instruction manual to understand the proper way of wearing it as well as any precautions, such as whether it is fragile or not. Before wearing it, check whether the protective equipment is in good condition. After putting it on, verify that it is secure and will not fall off when performing work-related actions such as bending or lowering the head. In areas where there is a risk to the eyes, it is essential to wear eye protection. Employees as well as visitors who enter such hazardous areas must comply with the same safety regulations and always wear protective gear in the workplace. IV. Proper use of protective gear for the auditory organs 1. When wearing various earplugs, first pull the earlobe upward to flatten the concha auris. Then, hold the handle of the earplug and gently push the part covering the earplug into the external auditory canal, making sure that the earplug fits as closely as possible against the concha auris. But do not use too much force, be too hasty, or insert it too deeply; it should feel moderate to you. 2. If you feel that the sound insulation is not sufficient after wearing them, you can gently move the earplugs slightly to find the position that provides the best performance. If repeated attempts prove ineffective, consider trying different models and specifications of earplugs to find the best one for consistent use. 3. When using foam earplugs, replace the cylindrical shape with a conical one before inserting it into the ear canal, allowing the plug to spring back and fill the ear canal. 4. When wearing self-forming silicone rubber earplugs, it is necessary to distinguish between the left and right plugs to avoid mistakes ; When inserting it into the ear canal, turn it slightly to get it in the correct position so that it fits tightly against the concha. V. Proper wearing of work clothes Properly wearing work clothes helps to regulate body temperature and protect the skin, thereby providing protection against water, fire, toxins, and heat radiation. Whether it is appropriate to wear work uniforms is directly related to human health. When working in high-temperature environments, a large amount of heat radiation is encountered; therefore, the work clothing worn under such conditions should be made of thick and soft materials as much as possible. Additionally, sweating occurs heavily when working in high temperatures, and some people prefer to work with their upper bodies bare. This can lead to skin burns from heat radiation, causing the skin to become hot and dry, reducing its ability to dissipate heat, and also increasing the risk of injury to the body. Therefore, when working at high temperatures, one should not only wear work clothes but also thicker long-sleeved shirts and pants. VI. Proper wearing of work shoes Choose work shoes of the right size that suit the needs of the workplace. In ordinary places, wear ordinary work shoes ; Wear electric-insulating shoes when working with electricity ; Wear waterproof work shoes when working in areas with water. Make sure to tie your shoelaces tightly; they shouldn’t be too long and dragging on the ground. VII. Proper Use of Safety Belts 1. Select safety belts that are suitable for specific usage scenarios, based on the nature of the industry and the requirements of the job. For occupations such as scaffolders, painters, and welders, suspension safety belts should be used, while electricians should use guardrail safety belts. 2. Before use, check the seat belt for the following issues: any signs of damage on the surface ; Are all the components of the seat belt in good condition? ; Check whether it has exceeded its usage period; the service life of a seat belt is 3–5 years, and it should be retired in advance if any abnormalities are detected. It should be noted that after two years of use, the seat belt must be inspected randomly ; Does the new seat belt have the manufacturer’s name, production license number, production date, etc.? 3. The safety belt should be worn high and used low; wearing it low and using it high is strictly prohibited. 4. The safety belt must be attached to a secure and reliable location; it must not be used with knots, nor should the hook be attached directly to the safety rope – the hook must be used by attaching it to the connecting ring.
