On December 28th, Beijing time, the Rockets easily defeated the Mavericks 123-107 away from home, completing a sweep of the regular season. Rockets (24-9) win two games in a row. James Harden played only the first three quarters, shooting 4 out of 7 three-point attempts, and contributed 34 points, 11 assists, and 5 rebounds. Layne Anderson scored 22 points, Nene Hilario had 12 points and 8 rebounds, while Trevor Ariza contributed 9 points and 7 rebounds. Eric Gordon, who came in as a substitute, scored 13 points. The Rockets made 17 out of 32 three-point attempts. The Mavericks (9-23) suffered two consecutive losses and once again became the bottom team in the West. Harrison Barnes scored 21 points, Wesley Matthews 19 points, Dirk Nowitzki 7 points, and DeRon Williams made just 2 of 11 attempts for 6 points and 6 assists.
The Mavericks are really in bad shape; it’s time for a rebuild. Wait until Nowitzki retires and then proceed with the rebuild. Barnes can at most be the second-best player; he can’t be the leader of the team
