The aerobic tank is green in color

We have a dairy wastewater project; when the water volume increases, the color of the water in the primary aerobic tank turns green, and eventually the aerobic tank system fails, resulting in turbid effluent from that tank. By stopping to extend the aeration time, the color of the water changes from green to white, and eventually to grayish-white, with the effluent becoming clear. I’d like to ask everyone why this is the case. Tests showed that when the water body is green, the total phosphorus and COD levels are not high, with COD being around 360.
Generally, the treated water should be slightly alkaline; of course, the ideal level is neutrality. . Is it related to this?
