In the process of studying standards and regulations, especially those related to fire and explosion prevention in terms of general layout and equipment placement, the term used previously for describing wind direction was “dominant wind direction” or “wind direction with the highest frequency throughout the year”. However, current standards and regulations generally use the term “wind direction with the lowest frequency throughout the year”. This is a very interesting and important change. Therefore, this week we are making this the topic for the “Weekly Discussion.” All sea enthusiasts are welcome to share their opinions and engage in thorough discussions!
Although I’m not involved in process design, I think the reason for changes in standards and specifications is related to our **meteorological statistics. Everyone can also look up information and engage in discussions.
The wind direction with the highest frequency is not necessarily the opposite of the wind direction with the lowest frequency; the side downwind of the wind direction with the lowest frequency for a pollution source is the direction where pollution is least

It has nothing to do with our **meteorological statistics； This statement is a more scientific and accurate way of putting it ； I completely agree with what was said on floor 3
The concepts of the wind direction with the highest frequency and that with the lowest frequency are not entirely opposite to each other; the direction opposite to the dominant wind direction is generally not the wind direction with the lowest frequency. The factory is required to be located in a town or industrial area, on the upwind side of the wind direction with the lowest frequency throughout the year; such a arrangement will have a lesser impact on the local residents, and it is more scientific and reasonable.
This change clearly indicates that the wind direction at the minimum frequency exists in only one direction and at one location. The wind direction with the highest frequency, as well as the dominant wind direction, correspond to other directions as well, which lie between these extremes; they are not unique.
The minimum frequency refers to the lowest level of probability
