Wave compensators need to be suitable for various operating conditions; therefore, they are available in a variety of materials, such as stainless steel wave compensators, non-metallic wave compensators, PTFE wave compensators, rubber wave compensators, etc. The service life of wave compensators depends on the conditions of their operation, including parameters such as the number of cycles of stress, operating temperature, and degree of corrosion. This shows that wave compensators do have a limited service life. Replacement of bellows compensators When bellows compensators reach the end of their service life, their material may suffer from aging, oxidation, or fatigue; in such cases, they should not be used any longer and need to be replaced with new ones promptly. When replacing a wave compensator, the following points should be noted: 1. Locate the relevant original documents, and based on the information recorded thereabout regarding the model, pressure, connection method, and compensation amount of the wave compensator, determine its actual total installation length. 2. If there are no relevant original documents, in such cases it is necessary to determine the medium transported by the bellows compensator, its design pressure, total length, etc., and take photographs to provide to the manufacturer. When it is not possible to determine the compensation amount of the bellows compensator, the temperature of the medium being transported and the distance between the two bellows compensators must be provided.
