As shown in the figure, the body of the pressure pipe tee is thickened in order to reduce the thickness of its tee portion (to make it the same as that of the connecting pipes). Therefore, the body of the tee must be beveled in order to have a wall thickness consistent with that of the connected pipes, enabling welding.
The same treatment is applied to ensure that the inner diameter remains essentially constant across different wall thicknesses of the pipe
