The new standards GB/T14383-2021 and GB/T19326-2022 are set to be implemented soon. These standards eliminate the Metric Pipe Series II; so how will socket weld and threaded fittings, as well as branch fitting components, be used for metric pipes in the future?
It is not that the Metric Pipe Series II has been removed from the standards. . Instead, that appendix size was removed. When you choose the II series, you need to adjust the dimensions of the corresponding pipe socket fittings by yourself.
Then how should the dimensional standards for metric II series fittings be specified, and how are the fitting drawings prepared?
GB/T14383—2021 does not eliminate metric pipes; the dimensions of steel pipes connected to fittings are specified in Appendix A. The outer diameter of steel pipes is divided into Series I and Series II, with Series I diameters being recommended for use.
The outer diameter specified in Clause 6.2, Series II, is not applicable to threaded fittings. So, can’t threaded pipe caps for metric pipes be used?
Metric pipes cannot be fitted with pipe caps directly; a threaded short section (made from imperial pipe fittings) must be welded to the end of the metric pipe before the pipe cap can be attached. Not only this standard, but this is true for all metric pipe fittings using pipe threads, unless metric threads are used.
