The Fujian-Guangdong gas pipeline interconnection project is 23.46 kilometers long, starting from the Zhao’an distribution station in Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, and ending at the Raoping distribution station in Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province. It has a design pressure of 10 megapascals, with an annual gas transport capacity of 1.058 billion cubic meters. Upon completion of the project, it will eliminate the operational disconnect between the natural gas pipelines in Fujian Province and Guangdong Province, enabling interconnection between the second phase of the Haixi pipeline network and Guangdong Province’s main natural gas pipeline network. This will facilitate the transfer of LNG resources from southern Fujian to eastern Guangdong, allowing for two-way transportation of natural gas resources between these two regions. The Lian Tong Project will be connected to existing pipelines such as the eastern section of the West-East Gas Pipeline Line 3 and the Zhangzhou liquefied natural gas export pipeline, thereby forming a backbone pipeline network in the southeastern coastal region. This will facilitate the integration of gas supplied by the West-East Gas Pipeline System with LNG imported at coastal receiving stations, enabling flexible allocation of natural gas resources and enhancing the capacity of these two provinces to ensure a stable supply of natural gas as well as to handle emergency demand fluctuations. The area along the project features a mixed landscape of low hills, gentle slopes, and flat lands, with geological characteristics such as paddy fields, rivers, and fish ponds that result in high groundwater levels; as a result, it is difficult to construct drainage ditches, making the construction process challenging. **The pipeline network group employs TIG automatic welding technology, which features fast welding speeds and strong adaptability to different terrains, as well as a laying method that involves welding above the trench followed by lowering the pipes into the trench. This approach helps to minimize the impact of groundwater on welding quality and work efficiency, thereby ensuring the quality and safety of the pipelines. During the construction process, **Pipeline Network Group strengthened ecological protection throughout the construction phase; by optimizing routes and narrowing the construction area, it reduced tree felling and achieved green construction. The project will also employ specialized information systems for managing the entire process of design, construction, and procurement. Through digital design and intelligent data collection and processing, smart pipelines with an active risk management system will be created.
