During the National Day holiday, inventories of manufacturing enterprises in the downstream glass industry rose rapidly, leading to a general decline in prices. After the holiday, prices in the East China glass market remained at low levels. Corporate inventories increased following the holiday. In the Central Plains region, falling glass prices continued to affect the East China market. Prices in the East China market, particularly in Shanghai, kept declining. The prolonged sluggishness in line with the current season has completely eroded market confidence; current price levels have reached record lows. Demand remains limited. At present, soda ash producers report a slowdown in sales and transactions. Some manufacturers are selling at reduced prices. Market developments in various regions: The soda ash market in Sichuan has shown signs of weakening, with transaction prices trending downward. The prevailing ex-factory prices for light soda ash range from 1,780 to 1,850 yuan per ton, and higher-end transaction prices are gradually shifting toward these lower levels. The prevailing ex-factory price of heavy soda ash is around 1,970 yuan per ton. In the Shandong region, soda ash prices have been adjusted. Currently, the prevailing price for light soda ash is around 1,880 yuan, while that for dense soda ash ranges from 1,950 to 2,050 yuan. Inventory levels are difficult to control, and sales remain sluggish. In the early stage, the cash price for lower-grade light soda ash was in the range of over 1,880. In Guangdong, soda ash prices remain relatively stable. Production at Nanjian is running below capacity. The prevailing local price for light soda ash is around 2,050 yuan, while that for dense soda ash is around 2,200 yuan. Order intake remains satisfactory. Distributors are offering Shuanghuan Light Alkali at around 2,050 yuan; it is reported that some major players are selling it at 2,020 yuan for lower-end products. There is an evident overcapacity in the soda ash industry. The 1 million-ton soda ash production capacity of Qinghai Kunlun and the 600,000-ton capacity of Xuzhou Fengcheng Salt Chemical have been put into operation successively. However, downstream demand is insufficient to sustain soda ash sales; consequently, soda ash prices have declined significantly. Market performance has been poor; factory gate prices of enterprises have also declined. While market quotes remain stable, actual transactions have decreased. Many soda ash producers are quite pessimistic about the situation. Industry meetings held in various regions primarily emphasized the need to maintain price levels. However, market performance remains unsatisfactory, and there is still a possibility that prices may ease in the future.
