The Interim Measures for the Management of Water Intake and Use in Refining and Chemical Enterprises of China National Petroleum Corporation stipulate: Chapter 5, Waste Water Management, Article 26 – All refining and chemical enterprises shall discharge and treat wastewater from their facilities in a classified manner; the wastewater discharged from such facilities must meet the requirements set by ** as well as those outlined in the local government’s environmental protection policies. It is also necessary to assign dedicated personnel to handle the procedures related to obtaining waste water discharge permits. Article 27: All refining and chemical enterprises shall recycle wastewater and reclaimed water according to their quality levels, and separate rainwater from sewage in their use. After appropriate treatment, the discharged wastewater meets the quality standards required for water used as makeup water in closed-loop cooling systems, and can be used partially or entirely in place of production water for such purposes ； Wastewater that has undergone advanced treatment to achieve the quality standards of softened water or boiler make-up water should be used in place of softened water or deionized water. Article 28: All refining and chemical enterprises shall enhance the reuse and recycling of water, with the rate of water reuse to exceed 97.5% ； The reuse rate of wastewater should exceed 50%. Article 29: The discharge of water pollutants shall comply with the provisions of ** and local standards.
