As shown in the diagram, this is a dry gas seal system for one of our company’s multi-stage (10-stage) horizontal centrifugal pumps, which serves as a backup to the mechanical seal. What are components 1, 2, and 3 in the diagram respectively? What is its function? And if the seal leaks and the pressure gauge shows a sudden increase, what actions should be taken to mitigate the leak? Please ask an expert for help, thank you! !
Pressure relief valve, rotor, shut-off valve – I’ve never used these. There might be a certain pressure range within which they can operate; if that range is exceeded, it triggers a repair request
If the pressure indication on the gauge suddenly increases, and this indicates a seal leak, then there is a mechanical issue to be addressed. How to operate it? What this pressure gauge indicates is that there is a problem with the seal, rather than indicating that the pressure needs to be reduced manually. It’s just as foolish as having an oil level warning light on a car’s dashboard and instead of refilling the tank, going to a 4S store to fix the dashboard. For that small glass rotor, there are requirements regarding the height indicated by the rotor inside; you can ask someone who is familiar with it.
Are 1 to 3 what you mean?
I asked because when the seal leak was discovered, I saw the managers releasing the gas shown in Figure 2 on site; that’s why I asked. Thank you for your explanation :)
I’ve never seen anything like this on a dry gas seal! Only know pressure relief valves
