Which has a higher single-stage compression ratio, a semi-open impeller compressor or a closed impeller compressor? ?
I think it’s closed. Take our example: for our circulating hydrogen compressor, the inlet pressure is 19.6 Mpa and the outlet pressure is 22.6 Mpa; it is of the BCL407 model, with an average pressure of 0.4 Mpa per stage. The Ingersoll Rand centrifugal air compressor, which has three stages, has an outlet pressure of 0.8 Mpa (the operating pressure), and its average pressure is lower than that of the circulating hydrogen compressor. Of course, this is just a rough calculation I’ve done based on the actual operating conditions, and it may not be accurate. There must be many factors to take into account in reality!
Compressor manufacturers design impellers to be essentially closed-type impellers with a high pressure ratio. Semi-open types have a large flow rate and are mainly used in air separation units. This is what I know.
