I’m a newcomer to the chemical industry, and I would like to ask again about the specific principle of the labyrinth seal in centrifugal pumps
Labyrinth seals must have return oil holes or return oil grooves. Make sure the oil return hole is installed at the 6 o’clock position.

Set the oil return groove to the second level; it is advisable to mill the semi-circular oil return groove into an angled shape
It’s incorrect to drill through the first and second layers; it is recommended to block off the middle layer with a soft material.
Why doesn’t it work to make holes on the first and second floors?
I’m not quite sure about the CAD diagram – is it about milling a notch with a sloped bottom in the middle layer?
This diagram corresponds to your actual item: three protrusions and two grooves. Wasn’t there a semi-circular groove machined on your original item? This groove mills off the second protrusion; it is advisable for this groove to be slightly lower on the side close to the bearing, as this facilitates the return of oil to the bearing housing. It’s similar to the shape of a slide.
