For the primary seal of our alkylated refrigeration compressors’ dry gas seals, process gas is used in normal operation, and there is a drain valve for removing condensate at the end of the process gas pipeline. Do experts need to open this drain valve regularly to remove liquid? (The process gas is isobutane)
It needs to be discharged regularly – will this affect the flow rate of the process gas entering the dry gas seal?
It depends on your approach; if you use it at full capacity, there will definitely be an impact
Can a separatory funnel-type device be added?
If there is a lot of liquid, it can be considered; if there isn’t much, it’s not necessary
The gas coming out of the compressor usually does not contain liquid; be sure to maintain proper insulation and heating in winter.
1. Provide proper heat tracing and insulation for the dry gas seal pipelines. 2. If the drain is connected to a flare, it can be opened slightly more than necessary
