GB/T150-2011 P126 Conical heads – Figure 5-13: Diagram showing the reinforcement at the connection of the smaller end of the conical shell. Why is the maximum angle only 10°? 5.6.4.2 When subjected to internal pressure, no folding is required; according to Table 5-4, for angles of 45° or less, it is permissible not to fold the smaller end. Why does Figure 5-13 show a maximum of 10°, and what about other angles?

For the little-endian format shown in Figure 5-13, calculation is performed using formula 5-8; thus no reinforcement is required; What I mentioned about the little-end 45 allowing no folding is a different thing ; So, to summarize cone calculations, there are three scenarios: 1. No reinforcement is needed; 2. Reinforcement is required; 3. Edge folding is necessary
I still don’t understand. For example, I’m using 30°, and I want to determine whether the smaller end needs to be reinforced at the joints; so I checked Figure 5-13, but there was no information available for 30°. What should I do? It’s a bit strange; in Figure 5-11, when the big end is used, the angle is 30°, while in Figure 5-13, when the small end is used, the maximum angle is only 10°.
In most cases, the smaller end of a conical head needs to be reinforced; it’s clear from that curve how high the top can go.
You can do it the other way around: leave just a little bit on the left where no reinforcement is needed, and reinforce everything else. To the right of 6°, everything is blank; that line will not change, and it will remain blank even at 30°. (Just my personal opinion)
I think the standards should provide rules, rather than leaving it up to the readers to figure out those rules O(∩_∩)O
