Two concave flanges paired together

Question: Is it possible to have two concave flanges paired together (FM to FM)? Is it feasible, and under what circumstances would it be used? I recently saw container flanges used in this way on a heat exchanger
There is a clamped tube sheet in the middle; the tube sheet acts as the convex surface.
It is usually a matching of convex and concave surfaces; it would be best to send a photo for easier discussion.
