Our company’s liquid chlorine liquefaction and refrigeration unit has four refrigeration machines. Currently, two units have low suction pressure (around 0.5 kilograms, whereas it used to be 1.5 kilograms). When the liquid supply valve is opened slightly, frost forms on the refrigeration head due to liquid slugging; similarly, opening the chlorine valve at the end of the liquefier slightly also results in liquid chlorine flowing through. Over several days, every possible method of adjustment was tried; the system was filled with Freon as well, but it still didn’t work. I would appreciate it if the experts present could provide a diagnosis and suggest how to treat this condition
Question: For the condenser of a C5 light hydrocarbons distillation tower, can the cooling water flow in the tube side be designed as multiple tube passes?
This is a question related to the field of process engineering; calculate the temperature difference correction factor according to Appendix B of GB/T151. If this factor is 0.8 or higher, it is feasible to design the system with a multi-pass structure.
This is probably a system issue; I’m not very familiar with it, sorry.
