If the ammonia compressor trips, should the synthesis process be stopped immediately, or should the production volume be reduced temporarily?
First is to reduce the volume, maintain the cold temperature for ammonia synthesis, pay attention to the synthesis pressure, and gradually cut back the amount. At the same time, the backup ice machine should be started to gradually resume production. If there is no backup ice machine, it can be treated as if it were syngas; the electric furnace maintains the synthesis temperature, and synthesis is resumed once the refrigeration system is back in operation.
The synthesis process must be circulated immediately in its entirety, with all process gas being vented; the ammonia tank can be cooled using a small ice machine, or it must be vented instead.
