Recently, the staff working on the equipment reported that the air coolers of the unit are not able to provide sufficient cooling capacity during the summer months to meet the production requirements. I examined the original design plan; the inlet temperature for the air was set at 34 degrees, and I’m puzzled as to how this temperature was determined. When designing air coolers, is the temperature of the incoming air generally determined based on the average temperature of the hottest month? In Nanjing, during the summer the outside temperature is usually around 37 or 38 degrees Celsius, and the equipment becomes even hotter. However, when looking at historical weather data from previous years, the temperatures were not that high. I would like to ask those who have experience in this field: who has designed air coolers, and how should the inlet temperature be determined?

Air coolers are generally designed based on the outdoor ventilation temperature; some manufacturers add 2-3 degrees to this value. However, according to user feedback, even this does not meet the requirements. The safest approach is to use the extreme high temperature as the inlet temperature for the air cooler
