Dear teachers, the newly built ignition oil pump room in our plant is equipped with 2 boiler fuel pumps (one in operation and one as a backup). The medium transported by these pumps is No. 0 light diesel; the rated flow rate of each pump is 12.5 m3/h, and the head is 400 m. These pumps are used to supply fuel to a coal powder boiler with a capacity of 240 t/h, as well as to assist in combustion during periods of unstable coal feeding. The general process is a cycle that goes from the 200m3 oil tank, to the fuel supply pump, to the external network, to the oil pipeline for ignition in front of the furnace, to the return oil pipeline, back to the external network, and finally to the oil tank. Since the boiler does not burn efficiently, this cycle must remain active at all times; as soon as instability in the boiler’s combustion is detected, fuel must be supplied immediately. At present, three hours after the oil pump starts operating in circulation mode, the temperature of the diesel in the tank rises to 62°C, which is close to the flash point of diesel; therefore, further operation is not possible. Various possibilities have been investigated, but the cause has not been identified. Could the experts please help analyze what is causing this issue? The layout of the oil pump room in the first phase of our plant was the same as that of this newly built oil pump room. With continuous operation for pumping oil throughout the year, no issue of a sharp rise in diesel temperature was observed. The supply main pipe in this new oil pump room has a diameter of DN65, while the return main pipe has a diameter of DN50; the return main pipe is connected to the oil tank via a pipe with a diameter of DN32. I checked from the outlet of the oil pump all the way to the boiler, and found no other steam or hot pipes that could heat the oil pipes. Check along the process and the values at each temperature to identify the areas where the temperature rises, and then analyze the reasons. Does the second set have exactly the same specifications as the first set?
The configuration of the second pump room is the same as that of the first one; the only difference is the location of the pump rooms. The pump room in Phase 1 is located further away from the main plant, while the newly built pump room is closer to the main plant.
