Which teacher has a good understanding of toxic gas detectors?

According to regulations, toxic and highly toxic substances require the installation of toxic gas alarms. An expert said that it isn’t necessary to install such alarms for all toxic and highly toxic gases, as some gas detectors lack selectivity; in other words, there are no detectors available for those types of gases. Have you encountered this situation when designing systems?
