Is it required by design to have a thermal insulation layer for the pressure guiding pipelines of instruments used to measure liquid oxygen or liquid nitrogen (-196°C)?
With low-temperature pressure measurement, if the pressure transfer lines are insulated, then the pressure measuring instruments will freeze up in no time at all :lol.
It cannot maintain coldness; the reason is the same as that for measuring steam – a cooling section must be provided – and the same applies when measuring cryogenic fluids, as a cooling section is necessary.
No, liquid nitrogen vaporizes as soon as it enters the instrument pressure guide tube, causing the pressure guide tube to reach near ambient temperature.
