When the pilot light of the heating furnace or the pressure of the main fuel gas is too low, the burner will go out, and a large amount of fuel gas will enter the furnace, increasing the risk of explosion; therefore, pressure measuring instruments must be installed. The pressure before the flame arrester does not reflect the pressure inside the furnace (as the flame arrester may become clogged), so such instruments should be placed after the flame arrester. It is not sufficient for pressure measuring instruments to merely provide an indicator or display; they are usually linked to an emergency shut-off valve on the fuel gas pipeline, which closes automatically when the fuel gas pressure drops significantly. The pressure of the fuel gas can usually be controlled by installing a self-acting pressure regulator.
