At 11:39 on January 1st, good news came again from Jiutai Energy (Zhungeer) Co., Ltd.’s 600,000 tons per year olefins production project; the polymerization unit’s key equipment, the extrusion granulator, succeeded in its first trial run, producing qualified polyethylene pellets. To ensure the smooth progress of the testing operations, the staff from the project team made thorough preparations and actively collaborated with Koenig & Bauer’s technical experts. They carefully verified important control parameters such as equipment interlocks, the flow rate of water used for granulation, the temperature of the melting pump, and outlet pressure. On-site, they conducted a thorough inspection of the conditions required for operation, including the sharpening of cutting tools and the condition of the dies. Once everything was ready, following the established testing procedure – including the mixing of additives, extrusion, melting, granulation, and drying – at 11:39, the polyethylene pellets were successfully produced from the dryer’s outlet. There was great excitement on site; everyone stepped forward to hold these highly significant pellets in their hands, enjoying the joy of this achievement. The successful trial run of feeding into the extrusion granulator marks the completion of the entire system flow for the post-extrusion granulation process in the polyethylene plant. The methanol deep processing project of Jutai Energy (Jungar) Co., Ltd. began construction in 2013, with an planned investment of 8.28 billion yuan. The project utilizes UOP’s technology for producing low-carbon olefins from methanol, KBR’s pre-propane separation technology, and Dow Chemical’s UNIPOL polypropylene technology; it is expected to generate annual profits and taxes of 2.5 billion yuan once operational. With 1.8 million tons of methanol, the plan is to produce 600,000 tons of olefins; annually, this will yield 280,000 tons of polyethylene, 320,000 tons of polypropylene, 80,000 tons of butadiene, 25,000 tons of butene-1, 6,000 tons of MTBE, 60,000 tons of petroleum products and liquefied petroleum gas, and 80,000 tons of styrene-butadiene rubber.
