Latest Updates on the Completion and Improvement Project at Shaanxi Yanchang Zhongmei Yulin Energy Chemical Co., Ltd. Author/Source: Date: 2019-03-08 Clicks: 8 On March 5, the foundation work for Units 3 and 4 of the methanol air separation unit in this completion and improvement project was completed, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent installation of the air separation cold boxes and distillation towers. It is reported that the cold box foundation is the most challenging foundation project in the construction of air separation units; it features numerous embedded components, a complex structure, a large volume of concrete to be poured for each unit, and high quality requirements. Before the Spring Festival, the methanol project team, together with all the participating units, overcame various difficulties, endured the severe cold, and accelerated the work schedule, successfully completing the concrete pouring for the foundations of coolers No. 3 and No. 4. After resuming work after the holiday, tasks such as the removal of warm sheds and formwork, measurement and setting out, and the layered backfilling of soil using water weights were carried out sequentially. Following on-site inspections and approvals by all parties involved, the installation was completed successfully. The air separation units for the Yulin Energy Chemical Plant’s completion and improvement project were subject to EPC general contracting by Ningbo Engineering Company; both air separation units have a production capacity of 52,000 standard cubic meters per hour. The project will mainly consist of an air separation unit, a backup liquid storage system, and their associated facilities. It is reported that the installation is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2019. As of the time of writing, the foundation construction for various components of the air separation unit in the remediation project is in full swing. On October 8, 2018, the groundbreaking ceremony for the pile foundation work of the air separation unit as part of the completion projects for the first phase of the Yulin Energy and Chemical Company operated by Yanchang China Coal was held at the construction site, marking the full commencement of construction work on this unit. Project progress: On February 20, 2019, work on the methanol project resumed on a full scale. On September 13, 2018, the 1.8 million tons per year methanol complex and the plant-wide systems project commenced construction. On September 10, 2018, the EPC general contracting project for the 400,000 tons per year polypropylene plant (PP3) and the 110 kV main substation commenced. On August 30, 2018, the LDPE/EVA plant (an integrated plant for low-density polyethylene and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer) began operations. On August 28, 2018, the 600,000-ton methanol-to-olefins plant was put into operation. On August 17, 2018, the EPC general contract for this project was signed. The filling and completion works for the first phase of Shaanxi Yanchang China Coal Yulin Energy Chemical Co., Ltd. project officially commenced on September 8, 2017. With a total investment of around 14.413 billion yuan, this project uses coal and oil field gas as raw materials. Drawing on the mature technical expertise gained from the first phase of the Yulin Energy Chemical project, and by making full use of existing utility facilities, it aims to build facilities capable of producing 1.8 million tons per year of methanol, 600,000 tons per year of olefins from methanol, 300,000 tons per year of low-density polyethylene/ethylene-vinyl acetate in integrated units, as well as 300,000 tons per year of polypropylene. Yan Chang China Coal Yulin Energy Chemical Company is a coal, oil, and gas integrated conversion project for the production of olefins, jointly invested in by Yan Chang Petroleum Group and China Coal Energy Corporation. Its main mission is to achieve the on-site conversion, efficient development, and low-carbon, environmentally friendly utilization of various energy sources such as coal, oil, and gas in northern Shaanxi, thereby promoting the sustainable and green development of the region’s energy economy.
