The feeding and commissioning of the Lutianhua Zhonglan PC project, which was overall contracted by Donghua Technology, was successful. On May 20, the feeding and commissioning of the PC (polycarbonate) production unit for the Lutianhua Zhonglan 2×100,000 tons/year polycarbonate industrial demonstration project, which was overall contracted by Donghua Technology and features domestic independent intellectual property rights, was successful. This marks the successful completion of the first phase of this project, with it achieving the desired results. This project is a key construction project in Sichuan Province for 2016, funded by Lutianhua Group; it produces polycarbonate using the proprietary non-phosgene melt polycondensation technology developed by China National Chemical Corporation Chengdu Research Institute of Chemical Engineering and Chengdu Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. This technology breaks the foreign technological monopoly and fills a gap in China’s industry; it is the only set of industrial polycarbonate production equipment in the country with independent intellectual property rights. It can not only replace imported products and break the monopoly held by foreign companies but also handle the excess output from Lutianhua Group’s existing facilities, thereby extending the industrial chain and facilitating the group’s industrial transformation and upgrading. This project is a polycarbonate production facility with an annual output of 2×100,000 tons, requiring a total investment of 2.15 billion yuan, and will be constructed in two phases. In the first phase, an industrial demonstration plant for producing 100,000 tons per year of PC (polycarbonate) along with the associated DPC (diphenyl carbonate) will be built, with a total investment of 1.2 billion yuan. Since the project began in September 2016, Donghua Technology has overcome various difficulties such as frequent design changes due to immature manufacturing processes, delays in the procurement and delivery of equipment and materials, as well as extremely unfavorable local climate conditions for construction. Through careful organization and strict management, it successfully achieved the mechanical completion of the DPC unit and the PC unit in October 2018 and January 2019 respectively. Qualified DPC products were produced on January 31, 2019, and the PC unit was put into trial operation on March 11, 2019.
