Recently, it was learned from the tar naphthalene distillation workshop at the Shanxi Coking Tar Processing Plant that by installing additional heat exchangers in the tar distillation equipment, the temperature of the tar feed was increased, consumption of gas and steam was reduced, and the constraint imposed by low gas pressure on the tar processing capacity was eliminated. According to the latest statistics, this technological upgrade can generate annual benefits of over one million yuan. Affected by environmental regulations, the gas pressure in Shanxi’s coking production system experiences frequent and significant fluctuations, which severely impacts the efficiency and stability of the tar processing system. What poses an even greater challenge to production is the persistently high temperature of the fuel oil in the asphalt tank farm, which creates safety risks in the operation of the fuel oil storage tanks there. To change this situation, the tar naphthalene distillation unit of the tar processing plant organized professional technicians to conduct investigations and studies. Based on preliminary evaluations and technical calculations, an additional heat exchanger was installed in the tar distillation system. Since the heat exchanger was put into use, the workshop has optimized the heat balance of the system, enabling it to operate at full capacity. This has resulted in cost savings in tar processing and eliminated the potential safety and environmental hazards associated with high-temperature oil.
