At 10 a.m. on July 7, the on-site technical researchers completed sampling at the final test site, marking the successful completion of the pilot evaluation tests for the suspended-bed hydrocracking project under the international cooperation initiative; the test results met the expected objectives. This experiment was carried out on the basis of the slurry bed hydrocracking joint laboratory established jointly by the Hydrocarbon Research Center, KBR of the United States, and BP of the United Kingdom. KBR commissioned the center to provide evaluation services, and this marks the first time the center has undertaken an international cooperation project since its establishment. The leadership of the center attached great importance to this issue. In light of the poor quality of the raw materials, their high viscosity, and high residue content, they organized several meetings with relevant responsible persons and R&D staff from the Petrochemical Research Institute, the testing and demonstration base, the analysis and testing center, and the General Affairs Department to discuss and plan tasks related to analysis procedures, testing protocols, plant operation, and logistical support. As a result, tasks such as analyzing the properties of the raw materials, optimizing analysis methods, conducting pilot tests on reaction vessels, refining testing protocols, calibrating and maintaining the instruments used in the testing setup, and evaluating the performance of the testing processes were carried out successively. Throughout the entire pilot test period, three on-site experts from KBR and BP were involved throughout the process, with center leaders visiting the site to provide guidance. Technical R&D personnel, analysis and testing staff, and data processing personnel all performed their duties, ensuring that the work proceeded in an orderly manner. Morning meetings are held every day to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the equipment’s operating status and any existing issues, allowing for timely optimization of operational procedures. This approach ensures the stable operation of the equipment. The analysis data and test results are accurate, reliable, and timely, and all these efforts have been highly recognized and praised by the experts from KBR and BP on site. The successful completion of this international joint evaluation experiment has further enhanced the center’s reputation and influence in the field of international energy and chemical technology research and development. It has provided strong support for the establishment of the center’s technology research and development teams as well as for talent cultivation. It also offers valuable insights for carrying out more extensive international cooperation in the future, laying a solid foundation for turning the center into a globally renowned hub for energy technology research and development at an early date.
