On August 22, the integrated coal powder pyrolysis-gasification technology (CCSI) oxygen gasification technology, developed independently by the High-Efficiency Utilization of Hydrocarbons Technology Research Center of Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum (Group) Co., Ltd., passed the appraisal meeting for scientific and technological achievements organized by the Shaanxi Chemical Industry Society. The panel of appraisal experts consists of seven well-known experts in the energy and chemical industry, including Men Cungui, the former chief engineer of CNPC Planning and Design Institute. Li Dapeng, the company’s top coal chemical industry expert, relevant leaders from the Hydrocarbon Research Center, as well as technical R&D personnel attended this appraisal meeting for scientific and technological achievements. The meeting was chaired by Qu Chengtun, the deputy secretary-general of the Shaanxi Chemical Industry Society. The expert group inspected the on-site testing equipment, reviewed the work reports, research reports, calibration reports, and novelty search reports submitted by the responsible party, as well as the technical documents. Through inquiries and discussions, it was concluded that, based on the internationally leading CCSI technology, an industrial test for oxygen gasification with a capacity of 10,000 tons per year was successfully carried out, opening up new avenues for the application of CCSI technology in the chemical industry ; Taking into account the characteristics of oxygen vaporization, the process conditions and control of CCSI technology were optimized to achieve continuous and stable operation ; Through experiments, the basic design parameters for the CCSI oxygen gasification process package were established, providing a technical foundation for the construction of an industrial demonstration plant ; This achievement is originally innovative and ranks at the international leading level; it is recommended to accelerate its industrial application. Through low-pressure fluidized bed pilot tests, high-pressure fluidized bed pilot tests, fixed-bed pyrolysis experiments, and cold-state simulations of reactor systems, CCSI technology has undergone a large number of fundamental experimental studies, laying a solid foundation for the development of this technology. Since its commissioning by CCCC in August 2015, the 10,000-ton industrial testing facility has carried out fifteen feeding tests in total. In April 2017, it passed the evaluation of scientific and technological achievements organized by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation; the evaluation committee unanimously agreed that \"this technological achievement is original and possesses independent intellectual property rights, and its overall level is at the international forefront, recommending that efforts be accelerated to promote its industrial application and commercialization.\" The oxygen vaporization was verified on-site in July 2019 by the Shaanxi Chemical Industry Society. Based on the tests conducted in the pilot plant, the process design package for the 3600 t/d CCSI industrial plant was prepared. The CCSI technology integrates coal pyrolysis and pulverized coke gasification within a single reactor, enabling the staged conversion of coal into coal tar and crude syngas. This approach not only yields high rates of coal tar production but also ensures efficient conversion of pulverized coke. The main reactor features a unique design, incorporating a special fluidization field, temperature field, and channel configuration to create an optimal temperature gradient and material circulation. This enables the reaction system to reach self-heating equilibrium, thereby significantly improving the overall energy conversion efficiency. The industrial application of CCSI technology will undoubtedly provide technical support for Sinopec Group’s deep clean conversion of coal resources and for achieving strategic transformation. It will also contribute to the efficient and clean use of coal as well as to the integration of various industries, driving technological advancements in the coal chemical industry. This approach enables simultaneous progress in economic benefits and environmental protection, and holds great strategic importance for ensuring energy security.
