Tianchen signs EPC contract for 1.8 million tons/year ethylene glycol gasification unit with Yulin Chemical Author/Source: Refining & Petrochemical News Date: 2020-04-06 Clicks: 32 On April 3, China National Chemical Engineering Corporation Tianchen and Shaanxi Coal Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd. successfully signed the EPC contract for the 1.8 million tons/year ethylene glycol gasification unit as part of the first phase of the “Demonstration Project for the Utilization of Coal in the Production of New Chemical Materials” in Yulin. The cooperation between Shaanxi Coal and Tianchen has a long history. Starting with their successful cooperation on the Weihua methanol project, continuing their partnership on the Pucheng coal-to-olefins project, and then achieving success together on this current project, Tianchen Company has followed Shaanxi Coal Group’s solid and remarkable development trajectory from Guanzhong to Yulin. It has witnessed every step of Shaanxi Coal Group’s growth as a leader in the coal chemical industry, and has also shared in the great honor of the Pucheng coal-to-olefins project being awarded the **Quality Project Gold Award**. The signing of this general contract marks a new chapter in their successful cooperation once again. The “Demonstration Project for the Production of New Chemical Materials through the Differential Utilization of Coal” carried out by Yulin Chemical of Shaanxi Coal Group is currently the largest coal chemical project under construction in the world. It covers an area of approximately 13 square kilometers, with an estimated total investment of 125 billion yuan. It represents a demonstration project for coal conversion that features the highest coal processing capacity, the greatest degree of industrial integration, the most complex technology integration, and a supply chain that is closest to the end market. Tianchen Company has signed a contract for the EPC general contracting of Phase 1 of an ethylene glycol gasification plant with a capacity of 1.8 million tons per year. This plant utilizes the world-leading Collin CCG top-mounted multi-nozzle dry powder coal gasification technology, and it is capable of producing over 700,000 standard cubic meters of syngas per hour – making it the largest Collin dry powder coal gasification demonstration plant in the world at present.
