Progress of Xinjiang Tianyu Coal Chemical’s Project for Clean and Efficient Utilization of 5 Million Tons of Coal by Classification – Author/Source: Huahua Net Coal Chemicals; Date: 11-14-2019; Clicks: 19. Recently, the operation of the adsorbents in the pressure swing adsorption towers (TSA) and temperature swing adsorption towers (PSA) in Xinjiang Tianyu Coal Chemical’s project for clean and efficient utilization of 5 million tons of coal by classification began, with these units being filled with adsorbents using autonomous systems. To date, the civil engineering work for various buildings and structures in the hydrogen production unit area of the Tianyu Coal Chemical Project, as well as the equipment installation, have been completed. Current work includes the construction of the floor surfaces in the unit area, the installation of electrical and instrumentation systems, as well as pressure testing and insulation of the process pipelines. The lignite carbonization unit area and the raw gas desulfurization unit have completed handover; the successful loading of the adsorbent marks a significant step forward in the commissioning and trial production of the hydrogen production unit. It is reported that the 24 TSA and PSA temperature- and pressure-regulated, adsorption conversion towers to be filled this time play a key role in removing tar, sulfur compounds and other impurities from gas in the coal tar hydrogen production process. The task of filling 2,282 tons of adsorbent, as well as weaving the adsorbent isolation nets inside the towers, will be carried out by the employees themselves, which also saves 2.47 million yuan in costs. It lays a solid foundation for the subsequent commissioning and trial production of the hydrogen production plant. Scale of the Tianyu Coal Chemical Industry Project and main construction contents: Phase 1 involves an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons of semi-coke, 300,000 tons of coal tar hydrogenation products, as well as related supporting facilities ； Phase II will have an annual production capacity of 1.5 million tons of semi-coke, along with related supporting facilities, thereby creating a circular economy industry that integrates the processes of raw coal – upgraded coal – coal tar – coke oven gas – hydrogen production – and coal tar hydrogenation. The 5 million tons per year clean and efficient comprehensive utilization project for coal classification at Tianyu Coal Chemical was launched in April 2013; however, the project had to be halted in February 2015 due to banks stopping loans and resulting cash flow problems. Through the efforts of the people of Tuoxun County and through the joint efforts of various parties, on January 24, 2017, Zhongtai Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Tianyu Coal Chemical. The scope of this cooperation included Tianyu Coal Chemical, Yutian Coal Industry Co., Ltd. in Tuoxun County, and Panji Coal Industry Co., Ltd. in Tuoxun County.
