Hualu Technology Wins Three Industry Awards Author/Source: Shaanxi Petrochemical News Date: 12-17-2019 Clicks: 1 On December 8, 2019, the **High-Quality Project Award Summary and Commendation Conference was held in Beijing. The “Weibei Coal Chemical Industry Park 1.8 million tons methanol and 700,000 tons polyolefins project”, in which Hualu Technology served as the overall project manager and the general contractor for the core equipment, was awarded the “2018–2019 **Quality Project Gold Award”. This is one of the few Quality Project Gold Awards in China’s coal chemical industry over the past 10 years. Two days later, at the National Petroleum and Chemical Industry Science and Technology Innovation Conference held in Beijing, the patent for \"A production process for anhydrous hydrofluoric acid\" invented by Hualu Technology was awarded the \"Excellence Award in the 2019 China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Patent Awards\"” ; The “Full-Chain Technology for Fatty/Cyclic Isocyanates” developed in collaboration with companies such as Wanhua Chemical won the Special Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress. **Established in 1981, the Quality Project Award is the earliest and highest-standard honor award in China for engineering construction quality; it spans various industries and specialties and places emphasis on comprehensive process management of project quality. Among them, the **Gold Award for High-Quality Projects is the highest honor in the field of engineering construction, serving as a model and guide within the industry. The 1.8 million tons of methanol and 700,000 tons of polyolefins production project is located in Pucheng County, Weinan City, Shaanxi Province. It covers an area of 5,900 mu and requires an investment of over 20 billion yuan; it is a key project under Shaanxi Province’s 12th Five-Year Plan. It was built with joint funding from Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group Corporation and China Three Gorges Corporation. As a large-scale coal-to-olefins demonstration project in our country, it is the world’s first industrial demonstration project using second-generation methanol-to-olefins technology. Since taking on the role of lead contractor in 2008, Hualu Technology has been involved for ten years in the overall design of the entire plant, as well as in the overall management and coordination of the project. It was also responsible for the EPC contract work for the world’s first 8.7 MPa gasification unit, the largest methanol production facility, and the key boiler systems. Adhering to the engineering philosophy of \"creating high-quality projects to drive development through demonstration,\" the project team worked together with determination and a commitment to excellence, overcoming dozens of technical challenges. For the first time, this project adopted 8.7 MPa water-coal slurry pressurized gasification technology to implement a large-scale isobaric methanol synthesis process, thereby significantly reducing the investment and operational costs of the facility. It set three world records: the highest gasification pressure of its kind, the largest production capacity per furnace, and the highest total production capacity for gasification facilities. Core equipment such as gasifiers, carbon scrubbers, and methanol scrubbers has seen domestic design and manufacturing; the overall degree of domestic production for the project’s equipment reaches 95%. Fat/cyclic isocyanate (ADI) is a key raw material in the production of high-end polyurethanes. Polyurethanes prepared from ADI exhibit excellent properties such as resistance to aging, UV exposure, and yellowing, and are therefore widely used in strategic emerging industries such as national defense and military affairs, high-end equipment, new energy, new materials, as well as energy conservation and environmental protection. However, the manufacturing process for ADI involves a long chain of steps, and technical development is challenging; there are no industrial projects in China that can serve as a reference, and only 4 companies worldwide possess the capability to produce HDI. Our country has approved six sets of imported technologies for building HDI (1,6-hexamethylenediisocyanate) plants, all of which were halted due to foreign technological blockades. Hualu Technology has been involved in the engineering development of ADI’s production technologies since 2007. Since 2001, we have worked closely with Wanhua Chemical to overcome various challenges, focusing on technological innovation and optimization. We have resolved numerous technical difficulties related to the use of highly toxic substances such as phosgene and hydrogen, as well as flammable and explosive materials, in the production processes. We have completed the selection of key equipment, improved control systems, and optimized the layout of the facilities. The industrial units within the ADI industry chain that have been built operate stably, and their safety and environmental performance meet all relevant legal requirements. The patent for the anhydrous hydrofluoric acid production process is a new type of production method developed by Hualu Technology. It involves creative modifications such as replacing the traditional random-packed packing in the distillation tower and degassing tower with structured packing, switching from liquid-phase feeding to gas-phase feeding in these towers, and adjusting the feed flow rates and positions in the washing tower; furthermore, the conventional acid cooling unit used in this process is eliminated. These technological innovations enable significant reductions in energy consumption, lower investment costs, and simplified operation procedures. It has been successfully applied in numerous large-scale industrial installations both domestically and internationally since 2008.
