Lifting of the first piece of equipment for the ethanol production unit in Yanchang Petroleum’s coal-based ethanol project / Author/Source: Huahua Net Coal Chemicals / Date: 2021-03-08 / Clicks: 13 On March 5, the dimethyl ether reactor for the ethanol production unit in Yanchang Petroleum’s 500,000 tons per year coal-based ethanol project was successfully lifted into place, marking the official start of the installation work for this unit. The dimethyl ether reactor is one of the key equipment in the ethanol production facility; it weighs approximately 225 tons and consists mainly of a skirt base and cylinder, a head, tube bundles, ceramic balls, etc. The components to be lifted this time are the skirt base and cylinder, which together weigh about 130 tons. A 650-ton truck crane is used for the lifting operation. Before the lifting operation, Yushen Energy Chemical Company, together with all the parties involved in the project, carried out thorough checks at various stages, including foundation inspection, equipment unboxing, and review of the lifting plan. Through multiple rounds of coordination among all parties, a reasonable construction plan was developed based on the actual conditions on site, to ensure the successful lifting of the dimethyl ether reactor. It is reported that once the dimethyl ether reactor is hoisted into place, the installation of the equipment’s tube bundles, heads, ceramic balls, and other components will be carried out in sequence. The Yushen 500,000 tons per year coal-based ethanol project is currently the largest project in the industrialization of coal-based ethanol technology. With a total investment of 6.98 billion yuan, the project covers an area of 1,365 mu, and it utilizes the coal-to-ethanol technology developed jointly by Yanchang Petroleum and Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, which holds independent intellectual property rights. The project will be fully handed over on May 30, 2022. Beijing Petrochemical Engineering Co., Ltd. (Beiyou Engineering) has been assigned an EPC contract worth 3.78 billion yuan, covering auxiliary facilities and plant-wide system projects, as well as process units and water treatment systems; it is also responsible for providing overall project management services for this project. As the EPC general contractor for the gasification unit of this project, Aerospace Engineering Company signed a general contract with Yushen Energy Chemical Company worth 590 million yuan; the project utilizes two 2,000-ton-class aerospace furnaces.
