Bijie’s First Methanol Fuel Station Now in Operation Author/Source: Modern Coal Chemical Industry Date: 2020-03-17 Clicks: 78 The first new-type clean energy methanol fuel station, invested in and built by China National Petroleum Corporation’s Bijie branch, has now been put into operation at Degou Crossing in Qixingguan District, Bijie City, putting an end to the period in which Bijie had no methanol fuel stations. The first batch of 390 new clean-energy methanol vehicles in the city have been put into operation one after another. Methanol vehicles are set to become a new symbol of Bijie’s efforts toward green development as part of its initiative to build five green cities. It is understood that Guizhou Province’s target for the adoption of methanol vehicles in 2019 was 10,000 units, with Bijie assigned 390 of these vehicles. Zhang Jizhi, Deputy Secretary of the Bijie Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of the city, presided over the 84th executive meeting at which the \"Work Plan for Encouraging the Use of Methanol Vehicles in Bijie\" was approved. The contractor, China National Petroleum Corporation’s Bijie branch, took proactive action, and with the close cooperation of relevant provincial and municipal departments, Bijie’s first methanol fuel filling station was completed and put into operation in March this year. It is understood that methanol fuel is a low-carbon, clean fuel for vehicles; it is environmentally friendly, provides strong power, and is affordable. The first methanol fuel filling station in Bijie City has been built and put into operation. This is a scientific and environmental protection project that was planned systematically at both the provincial and municipal levels; it helps to reduce the emission of toxic and harmful gases from vehicle exhausts, improves air quality in cities, and cleans up the urban living environment! According to Wang Yan, a member of the Party Committee and deputy general manager of China National Petroleum Corporation’s Bijie sales branch in Guizhou, there are two main advantages to using methanol as fuel: First, when methanol burns, it produces primarily water and carbon dioxide; compared to gasoline, it does not contain compounds such as nitrogen, sulfur, or lead, making it a cleaner and more environmentally friendly option. Secondly, methanol fuel offers better cost-effectiveness; it burns more completely and generates more power than natural gas fuel. Compared to gasoline, it can save around 20% in costs, making it worth promoting.
